Hybrid Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor
Hybrid Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors, also known as Hybrid Capacitors, are a new type of capacitor developed based on solid-state capacitor technology.

I. Structural Features
The structure of hybrid capacitors is basically SIMilar to that of solid-state capacitors, but the key electrolyte is different. It combines solid conductive polymers with liquid electrolytes in capacitors, which allows it to have the advantages of solid capacitors while overcoming some of their limitations to a certain extent.
II. Performance Advantages
Capacity increase:
Compared to solid-state capacitors, the capacity of hybrid capacitors has increased, although this increase may not be particularly noticeable. This is mainly due to the enhancement effect of the electrolyte on the capacity of the capacitor.
Withstand voltage performance:
The voltage resistance performance of hybrid capacitors has also improved compared to solid-state capacitors. The introduction of electrolyte enables the hybrid capacitor to better withstand higher voltages.
Low leakage current:
Due to the electrolyte's ability to repair aluminum oxide films, the leakage current of hybrid capacitors is relatively close to that of liquid capacitors, and is not as high as that of solid capacitors.
Long lifespan:
Hybrid capacitors inherit the long-life characteristics of solid-state capacitors, and the introduction of electrolyte also improves their high-temperature stability. At present, the high temperature life of hybrid capacitors can reach 4000 hours at 125℃ or 135℃.
Open circuit failure mode:
The failure mode of hybrid capacitors is usually open circuit failure, which is similar to liquid capacitors, but different from the short circuit failure of solid capacitors. This failure mode has more advantages in circuit protection.

III. Technical Background and Development
R&D history:
Hybrid capacitor technology was developed by Japanese manufacturers around 2011 and gradually introduced to the market.
Technical difficulties:
During the development of hybrid capacitors, the key issue to be addressed is to achieve the desired performance improvement without significantly deteriorating the ESR equivalent series resistance and other performance characteristics due to the introduction of electrolyte. This requires close cooperation between conductive polymers and electrolyte formulation researchers.
Production process:
The production process of hybrid capacitors is relatively complex, requiring research on the impregnation technology of two types of electrolytes. The conventional process is to first impregnate the conductive polymer several times, and finally impregnate the electrolyte. However, different manufacturers may have different process explorations.

Hybrid capacitors are widely used in various electronic devices that require high energy density, long life, and good temperature stability due to their unique performance advantages.
